1893 Print Chicago World Fair Locomotive Rocket Railway ORIGINAL HISTORIC FAR1 XGFC4 24 x 10 cmThe Old Locomotive, "Rocket". This is an original 1894 halftone print showing "Rocket". The year 1829 is famous not only for the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester line, but also for the invention and construction of the first high speed locomotive of the standard modern type. Robert Stephenson's engine, the "Rocket" gained the prize for lightness, power, and speed. (Please note that, typical of halftone prints, there is printing on the reverse.)
