McAfee, a former Los Angeles police captain turned casino owner, designed the establishment with a vintage theme inspired by San Francisco's Barbary Coast. In 1973, entrepreneur Steve Wynn acquired a controlling interest in the property, initiating significant expansions, including the addition of hotel towers in 1977 and 1984. The
