This is a very nice service used French brass mounted Modle 1777 Sabre de Hussard (M1777 Hussar Saber), dating from the 1st Empire of Napoleon Bonaparte. It has a curved 31 1 2" steel blade, typical for mounted cavalry swords of the time. The hilt features a "stirrup" style guard surrounding a leather wrapped grip, which has unfortunately lost the brass wire wrapping it would usually have. It measures almost 37"
