I believe these were likely old scorekeeping numbers, and know they were found in Maine they look very classic baseball y to me, but I don't know for sure. I presume there was once a 6, 7, 8 and 9 too, but these are what remain. Beautiful, and good for counting all sorts of things, including marking one's age,
