The lack of markings does however make it impossible to determine exactly when it was made

The musket looks great however the MORTIMER markings are not in the English style and we believe that the markings were natively applied to the lock perhaps because of wear while in service in India

The overall condition of both items is quite worn

which has been deactivated and can still be removed with a rubber mallet from the gun by turning the barrel latch
