In the style of the day designed by famed gunsmith Nicolas Nol Boutet, these pistols were very popular and extensively made for French Officers. This example has an octagonal 6 3 4 inch Damascus barrel, which has numerous rifling grooves. The left side of the barrel bears the E L G * in an oval proofmark of Lige, Belgium, a gunmaking center even today, which at the time was controlled by France. The lock plate is
