This is an excellent example of a WWII period private purchase Navy Officers ball cap. The cap is of red wool with a red grommet in each of the six sections of the body. The front of the cap has a gorgeous embroidered US Navy officers cap badge insignia. The caps interior shows heavy wear to the thin oilcloth sweatband, with most of the stitching retained. There is some sweat staining on the underside of the visor,
