This is an excellent example of a WWII period private purchase Navy Officers ball cap. The cap is of red wool with a red grommet in each of the six sections of the body. The front of the cap has a gorgeous embroidered US Navy officers cap badge insignia. The caps interior shows heavy wear to the thin oilcloth sweatband, with most of the stitching retained.
